Many people who have tried all types of permanent weight loss
plans will probably have lost weight whilst on the plan but then it starts to creep back on when they've been
doing it a while. Indeed most of us when starting something new - be it a new job or a new project go into it
full on at the start but, as with everything, once we've become used to it and it is no longer challenging
then it can become dull or boring and the novelty wears off and we slip back.
So how can we acheive permanent weight loss once and for all so that our lives can 'move on' from this constant
depressing cycle of lose weight/gain weight? Let's be honest - the fat issue can really take over our lives. It
crops up when we eat out - the guilt of wanting a desert or helpings from the cheeseboard and the paranoia that
everyones looking at you and wondering how you can eat out in public when you are the size you are, when shopping -
the small sizes are always at the front of the rail and you have to wade through to the back to find your size - if
its there at all, on holiday/vacation - would rather not go to the beach or the pool or, if you do, then you cover
yourself in some large garment to hide your bulk - and the thought of making it from your sun-lounger to the pool
is a 'no-go' area!
So what is the The answer to losing weight and keeping it off forever? The answer to permanent weight loss is 'to keep it fresh'.

We have already identified that when we start something new we are full of enthusiasm for it. So why not have
the same attitude to weight loss.
Apart from some medical issues which I am not qualified to comment on, the main reason we cannot acheive
permanent weight loss is that we do not eat the right type of food in the right amount and/or we do not take
sufficient exercise. As mentioned previously, this is probably because we start our permanent weight loss plan very
well but soon become bored with the food we eat.
So Why not take it one week at a time? For example, plan out
your food menu for one whole week so that it is varied each day but always wholesome. Then on week 2, plan out
a different menu trying not to repeat the same item of food as you had the previous week. Try and avoid the
scenario such as "every day at 10.30 am I eat an apple". This type of repetition can be the reason we fail in
our permanent weight loss plan. With all the fruit, vegetables, pulses, grains, meat, fish products available
to us it should not be difficult to ring the changes. Make that 10.30 snack a yoghurt, or some dried
apricots/cranberries, or some celery sticks and a blob of low fat cream cheese etc., Just look through recipe
books if you need ideas.

And don't forget to give yourself the occasional (say once a month) 'Day Off'. This is your permission to
yourself that - because you're on your way to permanent weight loss - you are taking the day off to eat that bread
and butter or cake or pizza and are not going to beat yourself up about it. If you have these occasional treats you
are more likely to happily go back to your permanent weightloss plan the next day, in the same way that we go to
work each day knowing that our holiday/vacation is coming up.
