Here are five great tips that will help combat the risk and get you started on a heart healthy plan:
1. Walking. Walk, walk and walk. Start by walk everywhere you can. Don't just take the car the
corner shop - walk. If you do have take the car park as far as you can from your final destination - so you have to
walk the rest. Allow yourself more time for walking. This in itself will ease stress on your heart because you will
be more leisurely rather than jumping in the car and dashing off on your mission. By walking more you will beging
to enjoy the scenery and your surroundings - even meet people who have time to talk. Walking, being outdoors is
calming - and that can't be bad.
2. Keep Calm. We have seen that walking is calming but you also need to reduce your stress levels
further by adopting some stress reducing strategies. Set longer deadlines (if you have to) rather than putting
yourself under pressure by setting tight deadlines. Ask yourself who am I do this for? Your health always comes
first! Try and adopt a happy approach to things, this might seem silly but hum or sing to yourself, you'll be
suprised how much this changes your attitude to things, especially when things go beyound your control. Try and
share your thoughts more intimately with your trusted one - a problem halved etc... By doing this you will not only
ease your stress but get support and understanding, thus taking away that desperate feeling of
isolation.
3. Do not panic and suddenly diet, especially droping all fats. A heart condition may get worse if
you don't get this right. Drop the bad fats (like hydrogenated oil and fried foods) and start eating more healthy
fats like coconut oil, olive oil, oily fish like salmon, sardines, mackerel and sea bass. Build organic foods like
eggs and nuts into your diet. Consult and get yourself a good diet solution, try Eat Stop Eat
4. Do not be afraid to eat saturated fats. If read “The Truth About Saturated Fat” in The Diet
Solution Program you know that eating saturated fats is not what is causing people to get heart disease. It is the
processed foods, sugars and refined carbohydrates that cause heart disease. Finally.
5. Stop smoking. Easier said that done, I know. However, this something you HAVE to do. Smoking
has been shown to be one of the biggest risk factors in heart disease.
If you start by taking on board these five tips you are going to much closer to having a healthy heart - and a good
lifestyle.
